This is lovely, Adam. What a great idea, to give each student a word! I'm so glad that you'll be back at BAM next year. Have a great summer.

I love that Tate was exposed to successful comic book artists. Thanks for bringing them in! He now wants to take his comics in to Comic Relief to show them.

Thank you for that thoughtful essay and historical reference. We went to the 4,990 crosses in Lafayette over the weekend and introduced Tate to the lesson of Memorial Day. I would also highly recommend the podcast series "Winter Soldier" for deeply moving soldier's perspectives on war.

What a drag. I am very sorry. Always lock your door. Always. Always.

I am so, so sorry. I may have a desktop I can get to you so you can begin to rebuild, so talk to me tomorrow!

By the way, I read your blog a lot. It is the best teacher blog out there, and there are lots and lots. But, you knew that!

Dear Adam,

I was deeply shocked and devastated at the news that someone stole you laptop. This is totally unacceptable. It is my hope that whoever was involved in this will have the smarts and decency to return the laptop immediately.
You most certainly have given what seems to be nearly every waking moment to your teaching, to supporting our children. It was bad enough that you received a pink slip from the 'system'---the seemingly nameless, faceless institution--which of course is comprised of real people---BUT to be betrayed by folks in the community that you have served---those who have received the gifts of you teaching and commitment--well that is an outrage.
I believe this is the second time y your belonging have been stolen in your classroom--the other being another computer accessory--so there is indeed a pattern here. As parents in your class I hope we can come together to talk to our children about this matter and to encourage whomever did this to have the courage and wisdom to return your laptop before things get worse.
While caring does not return the precious material on your computer, I want you to know that you matter deeply to our children and families and I hope as a community we can find ways to express that amidst this time of understandable shattered trust.
